December 28, 2010: United Bank Limited (UBL) and UBL Insurers Limited (UIL) have entered into a strategic partnership to sell Health Insurance under UBL’s existing ambit of UBL BetterLife Plans. This new initiative will be called “UBL BetterLife Sehat Plans” having a wide range of retail health insurance products at affordable prices. These plans are also being supported by AsiaCare Health & Life Insurance Company Ltd, where AsiaCare will be the claims manager and the customer service provider.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Shahpur Ahmad, Head General Banking - UBL and Mr. Najib Nasir Syed Chief Operating Officer - UIL at a simple ceremony at the registered office of UBL Insurers Limited in Karachi. Also present on the occasion were Mr. Shariq Abdullah, CEO UBL Insurers, Mr. Aameer Karachiwalla, Group Executive Retail Bank UBL, Mr. Najeeb Agrawalla, Group Head Marketing UBL, Mr. Syed Javed, Group Head Customer Services UBL and Mr. Ali Hasnain, GM UBL, along with other team members of both organizations.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Aameer Karachiwalla, Group Executive Retail Bank UBL said, “With our strong network of over 1100 branches, innovative product portfolio and this new strategic alliance, UBL has become a one-stop-shop, offering a full range of financial products under one umbrella.”

Mr. Shariq Abdullah, CEO of UBL Insurers said, “Health insurance penetration in Pakistan is dismal as compared to the rest of the world and these plans are designed to protect families from financial hardship which can arise from the costs of unexpected hospitalization due to accident or illness.”

The UBL BetterLife Sehat Plans will soon be available at 1100 plus branches of UBL nationwide.
